Thin Places: Serenaded By God

Majestic views of the cascading cliffs and crashing waves captured me as I headed up the coastline. My intention was to reminisce and relive a moment of joy; the joy of God’s answer to my prayer for a child. He'd blessed me with a miracle.

I anticipated a beautiful day as God drew me to the ocean. 'Gabby Girl' looked rather inviting, so I stopped.

The gift shop owner and her white Labrador, Gabby Girl, were seated behind the counter.
"What brings you to Valley Ford?"

Hesitating, I answered, ...
"Healing".

What? Who said that? This was a joyful trip!

Admiring the delicate creations in the back room, I heard music playing faintly. I Love You’ was our wedding song.

Our marriage ended in a divorce nearly ten years ago. The unforgiveness was only reconciled just two weeks before today’s journey. It was then I realized my childhood abuse was the root of our divorce. Led by the Holy Spirit, my apology for my role in the demise of our marriage was received.

Reconciliation came from humility and obedience, and restoration was now in the process.

Tears fell as my eyes closed. Something beautiful touched my heart. “I love you..I am pleased..I am all you need.”
Grace accompanied the music as the Holy Spirit serenaded my heart, delighting in me with his love.
“The Lord your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.” ~ Zephaniah 3:17

“In Mary DeMuth’s memoir, Thin Places, she walks us through her journey from hurt to healing as she developed a deep, joyful relationship with Jesus. Thin places are those times where the division between this world and the eternal fades; they are snatches of holy ground, tucked into the corners of our world, where we might just catch a glimpse of eternity.”

This post was submitted in a contest hosted by Mary DeMuth. It’s exactly 259 words and the winner will win a Kindle! 1. As usual, I am touched by your sharing of your experiences with our Father. I love the fact that you are one of those people who stop to enjoy something that catches your eye and spirit. I feel like I am there as I read about the quaint little shop Gabby Girl.

I also love your experience of being in the moment with your thoughts and relating the music being played in the background. I have experienced that many times. I laugh at myself, but it is as though God is providing appropriate background music to my life...like I am in a movie.

I hope you win this contest...if not it is still a beautiful piece of artistic expression of a special time in your journey of restoration.~~

  3. What a great analogy, Cindy, how God provides appropriate background music to our life,as if he is directing a movie. God is certainly the author of our story so why not a movie! Love it!

Thank you, as always, for your refection and insight. The words you share really do inspire me further and encourage me to write even more. Love ya!
