Calling All Prayer Warriors: Spiritual Warfare on Halloween

"For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal,But mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds." - 2 Corinthians 10:4

The month of October brings on the dark spiritual forces, and continues through Halloween or "All Hallows' Eve". Do you know what is taking place at this time? On October 31st, the high priest of all witch covens are required to make a blood sacrifice, whether animal or human.

Originally the end of October and the beginning of November was the time when the pagan Celts celebrated the end of their year giving it the name Samhain (pronounced "Sah-win"). They believed that at that time the veil between this world and the next was very thin and that the dead came through to confront the living for good ... or evil. The Church, in order to counteract the pagan feast, introduced the Feast of All Saints, the day when all the triumphant dead in Christ would be commemorated and celebrated. No longer would the time be one of fear of death and the dead but one of "rejoicing with the Saints in Light".

We tend to overlook the reality of Satan worship, for it is becoming more and more open and accepted. There are real witches, real spells and real rituals. If you are not educated about this, I urge you to do some research and start praying.

This night is declared as the devil's birthday!

Do you not think that Satan's followers are gearing up all month? Christians begin preparations for Christmas in September! What evil has taken place around you lately? Are you spiritually discerning? If you are, then you are certainly aware of the increased dark spiritual influence.

SO, WHAT ARE THE WEAPONS OF OUR WARFARE?

Praise: Praise is definitely a major weapon against Satan. Praise releases the presence of God in a way that Satan cannot resist. If we praised God more often we would have far less interference from demonic powers in our lives.

The Word of God: Jesus promised that if we abide in Him, and His Word abides in us, we will ask what we desire, and it will be done for us. (John 15:7) This includes victory over Satan.

The Blood of Jesus: Satan is called "the Accuser of the brethren." When we sin we give him opportunity to accuse us, both directly and through others. Now, we have all sinned. There is not a Christian around who never sins, but the Blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin.

"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (I John 1:9) We must believe that no matter what sin we commit, the Blood of Jesus is there to cleanse us. Because Jesus paid the price for our sins, and took the punishment we deserve, we can be forgiven and go on after temporary defeats.

Prayer: Prayer is not preparation for battle. Prayer IS the battle. We are commanded to pray without ceasing. Learn to pray with power. When we prevail in prayer, Satan is defeated, miracles happen and people turn from the power of Satan to the power of God.

The Power of Your Testimony: Tell other people what Christ has done for you and how He has impacted your life! This will promote faith. Everyone who is truly born again has a testimony. Everyone who has received and answer to a prayer has a testimony. Share your testimony with others and let them know how amazing your life has become since finding Jesus Christ!

The Power of the Holy Spirit expressed through the Gifts of the Spirit: "And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit." (Ephesians 5:18) A person who is filled with the Spirit and has learned to be led by the Spirit can also receive and use the Gifts of the Holy Spirit.

"For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; to another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another diverse kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues." (I Corinthians 12:8-10)

Some may think there is too much emphasis on the influence of the demonic during Halloween; that there is too much emphasis on witchcraft and the satanic. It is minimized. Well, there is no doubting the increased presentation of violence, murder, blood, atmosphere of fear, and death that is experienced during Halloween. Many more homes have ghoulish decorations. The violent and grotesque movies come out and are the number one videos rented during Halloween. The day is preoccupied with death. More destructive acts are done during Halloween.

Many Christians do not believe in recognizing Halloween by taking part in harvest festivals, etc. My belief is that this is especially important for Christians to come out in force and come against the evil spiritual forces at large. This is an opportunity to lead children and families to a safe place where the love of Jesus will protect them on this night dedicated to the devil. It is an opportunity to do the Lord's work, and win souls for Jesus on an otherwise dark holiday. Celebrate the light, Jesus Christ, instead of darkness.

Please take a look at Halloween: The Devil's Birthday. It contains insight as to the history and current day practices on and leading up to October 31st.

May the Lord protect you and your family and pour His love upon your hearts always ~ Let us pray for the legion of Heaven's angels to protect our children, our neighborhoods, our friends, and families.

"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." - Ephesians 6:10-12
