Loss of Blood Flow and Spiritual Awakening
Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit,
saith the LORD of hosts.
Zechariah 4:6
What a strange feeling to have your leg 'fall asleep'. At times, I've felt my entire leg go completely numb, as if I was dragging around a heavy, dead weight. We know this inability to move or feel our limb happens due to lack of blood flow to that part of the body, usually due to too much pressure or constricting of the nerves. Or, in other words, lack of movement. What we call 'falling asleep', the medical profession calls 'Paresthesia'. Sounds like paralysis, doesn't it? We are given hands, feet, ears, a mouth, and all of our other body parts for a purpose. Blood flow throughout our body is essential in keeping these parts healthy and alive.
Just as we depend on the circulation of blood flow to our physical body, the Body of Christ can not move without the Spirit of God awake and alive throughout each integral part. It takes Holy Spirit alive and moving within us to fulfill the ministry of Jesus Christ! Holy Spirit moves the gifts within us; the gift of discernment, and all other spiritual gifts.
Each part of the Body of Christ grows at an individual pace as well as an individual path. But it all starts with the Word of God. There also must be a desire to seek these things of God; a desire for truth, wisdom, and understanding.
My soul yearns for you in the night; in the morning my spirit longs for you. Isaiah 26:9
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Matthew 6:33
The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him; the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of power, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord.. Isaiah 11:2
It is a HUGE detriment to us as the Body of Christ to neglect Holy Spirit. A.W. Tozer writes, "Among the gifts of the Spirit scarcely one is of greater practical usefulness than the gift of discernment. This gift should be highly valued and frankly sought as being almost indispensable in these critical times. This gift will enable us to distinguish the chaff from the wheat and to divide the manifestations of the flesh from the operations of the Spirit."
If I could hand this book out to every Christian, I would. So, I am sharing it with you here.
"His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of Him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these He has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But if anyone does not have them, he is nearsighted and blind, and has forgotten that he has been cleansed from his past sins." 2 Peter 1:3-9May we, as the Body of Christ, awaken to the renewed power within us that resurrected Jesus Christ from the dead. Romans 8:11
