What If Christ Revealed YOUR Thoughts?

As I was reflecting on maintaining a 'mind of Christ', I discovered a book on the subject, written by T.W. Hunt. "The Mind of Christ: The Transforming Power of Thinking His Thoughts" starts out with an intriguing and extremely 'thought-provoking' (pardon the pun) supposition.

"Suppose Christ broke through the veil that separates the spiritual from the physical and audibly said to you today, "I am going to require you to have My mind in all it's fullness. However, I want people to know what a miracle of change I can work, so I am going to reveal to your church what your mind is like right now. Next Sunday, in your church, I am going to take over the morning service and play back, for all to hear, every thought you had this last week."

Would it appall you or delight you if Christ revealed your thoughts?

The first chapter goes on to explain God's judgment of our mental sins; the invisible actions of our mind. No wonder our mind is the battlefield of spiritual warfare. It really is difficult to comprehend, unless one actually experiences some sort of transformation of thinking and change of heart. Then, the influence or the source is revealed. Hopefully, it is the influence of the Holy Spirit.

The devil knows that what we allow to occupy our mind can take up residence in our heart. He knows that what is in our heart will overflow from our mouth. The devil knows our thoughts lead to our physical actions. Sometimes, with the purest of intentions, we are led into mental sin. The devil knows our weaknesses! We know our weaknesses! We can't blame everything on the devil! There is our sinful human nature we must come against every single day. Sometimes we are our own worst enemy. So, we must live and think every moment as Christ would have us do. No wonder there are monestaries to shelter the godly from the rest of the world.

"The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. The spiritual man makes judgments about all things, but he himself is not subject to any man's judgment: "For who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct him?" But we have the mind of Christ." - 1 Corinthians 2:14-16

The book of Philippians also instructs us on Christ mindedness. The focus here is on humility; the greatest Christ-like characteristic.

Imitating Christ's Humility
"If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:

Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death; even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." - Philippians 2:1-11

Finally, let us meditate on this question, "Would it appall you or delight you if Christ revealed your thoughts?" We often forget Jesus knows every single thought of anger, lust, perversion, hate, jealousy, judgment, envy, doubt, and fear.

Who do we think we are fooling? Only ourselves, my friends.
