God Speaks But Are We listening

I am in awe at the ways the Lord communicates with us. As I've taken a closer look at the ways the Holy Spirit speaks to me, I've learned of how the Lord has created each and every one of us in such a unique way that we each experience God's presence and hear his voice through a variety of ways. These are referred to as 'spiritual pathways', as author, John Ortberg, outlines in his book, God Is Closer Than You Think. I relate this to the Five Love Languages. It is the same theory; as one may respond to touch while another may respond to words of encouragement and praise, God's presence may be felt through acts of service or through his natural creations. You get the point.

One of the 7 Spiritual Pathways defined by Ortberg surely applies to your line of communication with God. Possibly several of them. You decide.

  1. The Intellectual Pathway ~ One draws closer to God as they learn more about him through the study of scripture, etc.

  2. The Relational Pathway ~ One experiences a deep sense of God's presence when they are in significant relationships, often established through small groups.

  3. The Serving Pathway ~ God's presence seems most tangible when one is involved in helping others.

  4. The Worship Pathway ~ Something deep inside feels released when praise and adoration are given voice.

  5. The Activist Pathway ~ One is not discouraged by challenges; they are energized by them. One has a passion to act, often sensing an urgency within their spirit.

  6. The Contemplative Pathway ~ Reflecton comes naturally; God is most present when distractions and noices are removed.

  7. The Creation Pathway ~ Having a natural ability to connect with God when experiencing the world he made. Being out in his creation opens your spirit to God.

The question posed to you is, "Which pathway does the Lord use to manifest himself in your spiritual walk?"

  1. SO MANY ways in which He speaks to us and we have SO MANY "excuses" for not listening.

    Great post!

I know some readers who could use this. (hint hint)
