Justice and Things We Must Do

Attending The Justice Conference meant networking with nonprofits. My purpose was to introduce Justice Writer as a ministry. The mission is to provide grant services to nonprofit organizations whose cause is to foster awareness, combat injustice, stir compassion, and deliver the oppressed and abused; the least of these.

Working alongside those called to be the hands, hearts, and feet of God's justice is an honor and a passion beyond what words can express. Aligning the designated resources with the appropriate cause is what Justice Writer's grant services is all about. Our hope is to offer relief to the myriad of nonprofits who contend with the daily challenge of locating God’s resources intended to fund His vision for organizations that “Seek justice, help the oppressed, defend the cause of orphans, and fight for the rights of widows.” Isaiah 1:17

With that said, i could not wait to see who the Lord would connect me with.

Oh, I had studied the pre-conference breakout session schedule and circled the ones I would attend. All had a reason and purpose to coincide with the development of the grant ministry.

The first session I thought I'd check out was a group of entrepreneurs who would discuss how they are working for the common good of society. Since I work for a secular corporation, I thought it would be helpful to draw from the knowledge of these business owners and deliver some great information to my boss.

"Fatherlessness is the root of a multitude of evil..." , the speaker poured from his heart.

It only took a few moments for me to realize I was led into a different room to hear this speaker representing The Mentoring Project, an organization promoting mentor-ship to the fatherless. Hearts were moved and I could certainly relate to some of the testimony shared by the speaker.

The multitude of evil fatherlessness breeds includes abortion, sexual promiscuity, prostitution and sex trafficking, murder, drug and alcohol addiction,  and other social injustices. It becomes a generational curse in most cases. BUT, we can step in and walk alongside those who've endured this injustice. It can be done at various stages, whether for a young child or an adult who has experienced re-victimization.

Ken Wystma is the founder of The Justice Conference. With a couple hundred vendors and over 4,000 in attendance, it was quite an event. Ken started out by defining 'Justice' and each presenter followed suit.

What Justice Writer gleaned from the speakers, collectively, is this:
  •  JUSTICE is most often thought of in legal terms, but justice is also one of God's greatest purposes for every man and woman on this planet. He is a God of Justice and offers salvation and redemption to every soul.

Any of us can quickly add to the list of wrongs in the world. All of us have been touched by injustice. And very likely, all of us have practiced injustice at some time in our lives.

Young David had a lot of time, while hiding out from King Saul, to think about such things. And he also had the chance to see the end of those who willingly wronged others. He even saw the fruit of his own mistreatment of others. In Psalm 37, David wrote:

Do not fret because of evildoers, Nor be envious of the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, And wither as the green herb. Trust in the LORD, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass. He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, And your justice as the noonday. Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass. Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; Do not fret—it only causes harm. For evildoers shall be cut off; But those who wait on the LORD, They shall inherit the earth.

The Bible is very clear, from beginning to end: There is a God in the heavens who sets right -- and will set right -- every wrong. There is a God in the heavens who weighs every thought, every intent, and every action of those who live -- and of who have lived, or ever will live -- upon this earth. There is a God in the heavens who will comfort all who mourn because of the evil done in this lifetime.

And there is a place set aside in the heavens for everyone who loves righteousness and for all who trust in the Lord. Even the earth itself will be renewed, made new all over again, and all that is wrong and corrupted and ruined by evil will vanish away forever.

God did not simply choose one day to try and make some things right. God did not decide one day that He would try to be fair. It is the very nature of God to be righteous, fair, decent and just. God is the One who makes everything right, because God cannot be otherwise. His righteousness is JUSTICE and we are called to live it out...on Earth as it is in Heaven!!!
  • JUSTICE is the foundation of God's throne. There is no attribute of God that can agree with injustice and discrimination. In bringing heaven on earth, the Body of Christ must be awakened to the need and injustice and bring God's justice. We must ACT as He asks us to move on behalf of the vulnerable. "He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the alien, giving him food and clothing." Deuteronomy 10:18
  • WOE to those who make unjust laws, to those who issue oppressive decrees, to deprive the poor of their rights and withhold justice from the oppressed of my people, making widows their prey and robbing the fatherless ..God's anger will not turn away from them." Isaiah 10:1-4
  • Jesus was surrounded by the vulnerable. He continues to act out the Father's justice, mercy, compassion, and healing for the vulnerable through His people.

How has God's justice impacted your life?

Years ago, before I knew any better, I used to pray for the wrath of God to strike my stepfather dead.  Yes, I prayed that prayer...just like that.
I was angry. Not one person came to my rescue; not even my mother or birth father. He simply 'got away with it'.  How could that be?

That was until I heard stories over the years that this man suffered horrific accidents and beatings, yet continued to live. He spent the remainder of his life estranged from his children and grandchildren. He continues to live in a vegetative state as a result of the 'justice' he reaped due to his evil ways. I know I am not to boast. I also know this man has accepted Jesus Christ as his savior....so I am told.

His evil did not destroy me. On the contrary; God rescued me from the strongholds of self destructive behavior, unforgiveness, and self-condemnation. I regained my true identity. God did this by bringing a sweet friend into my life who told me about Jesus. She showed me what peace looked like.  Then God showed me what Love looked like.

It reminds me of the story of Joseph..

You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people. Genesis 50:20

We can bring God's justice to the abused, trafficked, orphaned, widowed, and rejected....by loving them, defending them, and standing up for their rights.  Restoring their relationship with God and with others is justice from a heavenly perspective.
